Superintendent Dr. Owen Roberts of Alachua County is a member of the committee. His plan for revitalizing schools in the county was the subject of a post yesterday.
The charge to the committee is far reaching. It will explore:
- deregulation of the public school system.
- processes to review instructional materials by school boards.
- strategies to improve parental involvement.
- Implementation of the Florida Standards and Assessments over the next year.
Members of the review committee will represent parents, teachers, principals, politicians, superintendents, higher education, and school boards. Florida Education Commissioner Pam Stewart is first on the list. Click here to see the list.
The meetings are open, and the public is invited to comment at: http://www.fldoe.org/about-us/kflreview.stml
What does it mean,”deregulation of the public school system.” Can we find more detailed information somewhere?

I saw this reference to the Governor’s priorities. It is not very specific. http://www.rickscottforflorida.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Let%E2%80%99s-Keep-Florida-Learning.pdf
