Terry Gillam
Terry sent a letter to the editor to the Orlando Sentinel. She is chair of the League education team there.
Her group has been studying the excessive testing issue.
Here is what they recommend:
- Allow a two to three year transition period for the Florida Standards Assessment.
- Use multiple measures, not a single test, to evaluate students, teachers, administrators and schools.
- Provide alternatives for computer administration of tests.
- Allow teachers, schools, and districts more authority on which tests provide worthwhile information to improve teaching and evaluate student learning.
