HR 899 This is a short bill. It would just abolish the U.S. Department of Education. No replacement, no explanation. The sponsors are: Massie, Amash, Biggs, Chaffetz, Gaetz, Hice, Jones, and Labrador. Draw your own conclusions.

As the Department of Education has been an abysmal failure in educating America’s children and that reality in spite of astromomic costs invested with both measures compared to other modern societies, the idea of abolishing the Department of Education has merit.
But it gets worse upon closer examination. Public schools have morphed into seminaries of a leftist ideology that is foreign and antagonistic to the concepts upon which The United States became exceptional.
There is a glimmer of hope as the newly installed Secretary of Education is open to the concept of allowing Federalism to regain roots by encouraging local vs. big government choices in education.
The teachers unions are a big part of the problem in that their eyes are more focused on promoting leftist politics than on educating the children.
